A Thank You and a Voluntary Critique for Apex

There's a trojan on your computer

What a long, strange crazy week this has been–and it’s not even over yet! I am pumped, and feeling more like myself than I have in ages. Thank you! Yes, there has been unfortunate news shared about lags in my career which has shifted my priorities and goals for the umpteenth time in the past few years. However, looking for and finding gigs is part of being a writer and right now I have to hustle to make up that slack. Hustle, hustle.

Anyway, I wanted to pop in here on ye olde blog to say “Thank you.” I had forgotten just how supportive my friends are because we don’t see each other very often, and my attention has been closer to focusing on hearth and home. Reconnecting with old friends, and finding new readers, players, and fans has been supercharging me. It’s easy to focus on the peripheral or ancillary nonsense that has nothing to do with The WorkTM–especially in an era where we are seeing the tail end of mob rule on the internet.

Since I’m feeling all the love, I volunteered to do a short story critique for Apex Magazine as a means of giving back during their annual fund drive. I promise you it will be amazing and you’ll find a lot of value from my comments! There’s only ONE spot so grab it while you can.

UPDATE: This critique went very quickly, so it’s sold out. Maybe next time! If you’re interested in the fund drive, be sure to check out the Apex Magazine 2016 fund drive.

Thank You!

FireFly Montage by John S

Montage created by Firefly fan John Stavropoulos.

Yesterday, the Firefly RPG corebook hit Electrum status, which is the highest sales threshold. I am overwhelmed with fan squeeing; so happy you can enjoy this game! I can’t thank my team enough for all their hard work!

Putting an RPG of this magnitude together is a team effort and I’m very appreciative of everyone that’s part of the Firefly RPG line: past, present, and future. I plan on doing a blog series with my team in the future, so you can get to know each person on the team and their amazing efforts. Hopefully, time will allow in their busy schedules to do this! After all, we’ve got more deadlines to conquer!

Thank You, Dark Horse!

Hellboy Avatar

A moment’s pause, to thank the excellent staff of Dark Horse, for being so awesome during my tour last week in Portland, Oregon. I came home with so many a-maz-ing toys, comics, and books, many of which will be worshipped on my alter of fabulousness, and I greatly appreciate the experience. (Yes, you too can add to your own collection… Just visit the Dark Horse online store…)

Special thanks go out to Mark B. for the story-telling and special glimpse where the magic happens; three cheers to the rest of the unsung heroes in both the creative and administrative sections of the company.

Also. HELLBOY. Just sayin’. :p

On the Importance of Good Chocolate

Aphrodisiac For Her

Today, I’d like to give a shout-out to a chocolatier of indeterminable size – DB Infusion Chocolates, which is located here in my fair city. This particular chocolatier has impressed not one, but three choco-lovers in my life recently, and I’m scheduling a trip back when the wintry special, that flavor of snowflakes — Peppermint – debuts. (That and I am recording a particular promise to pick up drinking chocolate here as a “Thank You” to that most excellent of writers AND hostesses with the mostesses, Lili Saint Crow, forevermore. :-p)

Hands down, at the moment my favorite chocolate of choice is the fall seasonal Cider Caramel. Is it messy? Ab-so-lutely. It has a fantastic complex of flavors founded upon that unlikely of textures, that surprising first floor – a dash of vinegar. Clearly, this is a lesson learned: take the sweet with the sour.

When was the last time you spoiled yourself? Hrmmm? Challenge thine tastebuds, be it chocolate or vanilla, dear readers. – YOU DESERVE IT.

Mood: Must worship the gods of chocolate.
Caffeinated Beverages Consumed: Caffeine balance restored.
